Smart phone apps

Postby floating dutchman » Fri Feb 01, 2013 6:45 am

If you have an idea for an app, How do you go about making one? Can you download software to DIY or do you give the concept to someone and they develop it for you?
The Idea I have is actually very simple and in the right hands wouldn't be very hard to create.
I don't even have a smart phone myself so I'm possibly not the best person to go forward with the concept.

How do you go about this?

There's a few routes:

iOS development (cost $)

Windows Phone SDK (cost 0)

Android SDK (cost 0)

and yes, you do need to know how to program :)

Software can be quite tricky in that way, actually. Ideas that seem very simple can be complex under the hood, and something you might think is really complicated can end up being really simple.

Programming is necessary to unlock the real power of the devices you're building on, but there are technologies (such as http://www.andromo.com/ that allow anyone to build basic applications, regardless of skill level. You might try playing around with those. It's also possible to develop, simulate, and launch an application using only a regular computer - no mobile device is necessary (though testing on a real device never hurts).

Just make sure the appointing letter has the standard "IP belongs to the WLYDO" clause.
