Spending time on both sides of the Pacific, I am aware of the difference between Antipodean and American humour.
On the whole, Americans tend to be more polite and upbeat. Aussies and Kiwis tend to be more aggressive, and enjoy a good " put down".
I trust my contributions are not too aggressive for you guys.
I heard a great comment in a recent session on feedback,
" I would like to give you a shit sandwich, but unfortunately you ran out of bread"
There is also a joke going around about our esteemed Prime Minister,Tony Abbott , who recently knighted Prince Phillip, the Queens husband. This has resulted in general mirth and some concern about Abbott's mental state.
" In a recent audience with the Queen, Tony Abbott asked her if she could make him King of Australia. The Queen politely replied she could not do that as Australia was not a Kingdom.
So Abbott asked if the Queen could make him Prince of Australia, and the Queen reminded him that Australia was not a Principality either.
Then he asked if he could be made Duke of Australia, and she replied Australia was not a Duchy.
Exasperated, Abbott asked " so, what is Australia then?". The Queen politely replied " Tony, Australia is a country"
