Fire in Fort MacMurray

I don't know how much coverage this is getting outside of Canada. Major disaster--so far, miraculously, no fatalities. Town of 60,000 entirely evacuated.

Yes, it was on our national news last night. I hope everyone got out safely. It's a terrible tragedy. Does it normally get that dry there this early in the spring?

No, this is unusual. Fort Mac is quite far north--same lat as Juneau, give or take.

Fire season also well underway in north eastern BC too.

Wow.

Notice the deer crossing the road towards the fire @ 1:33? I bet there's a lot of wildlife that didn't get away. Sucks big time.
