Cruising on 20 cc of ethanol a day

It can be done. We are on a strict gin ration of 1.75 oz per (wo)man and surviving this far.

But why would you?

"Research" says any amount of alcohol is dangerous - even one judicious standard drink of distilled spirits. Those are probably the most dangerous.

What about rum and wine?
Sometimes I sit and think. Other times I just sit.

What happened? Failure to provision or failure to properly ration?

Us too. I'm 15 pounds lighter and holding. However...

Winter is icummen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm.
Raineth drop and staineth slop,
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm.

Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver,
Damn you, sing: Goddamm.

Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,
So 'gainst the winter's balm.

Sing goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm.
Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.

Getting my ass out to do something in the middle of the rainy season has proved problematic in the past.

I've always tried to be careful with my drinking, so I wouldn't have to ever stop drinking.

A good friend got me to start calling a halt to all booze from Jan 1 through Feb 14, when you have to celebrate with your Valentine! It is proof that you're know addicted if you can do it without getting the shakes, puking all the time, and generally banging your head against a wall. I've done it for a number of years, but did slack off last year.

Beth doesn't drink, so I have to carry the extra load. Sacrifices, sacrifices.

Poor you. How will you survive?

Oh, I know. Get yourself some of that hooch that David made down in Bermuda.

I was guessing they'd row around the anchorage with empty martini glasses until someone gave 'em a refill. Sort of the yachting version of the cardboard sign guys on the corner ;)

I tried a no booze diet. Stopped all alcohol for a month and didn't change anything else, exercise or food. Didn't lose a pound, and in the words of the great Ozzy "sobriety sucks".
I have changed my drinking habits tremendously though. From what I drink, how much, frequency, and even who I drink with. I guess that comes with age.

The last thing I need is another way to lose weight! This is about other aspects of health. And I have no wish to stop altogether. The goal is to enjoy the crap out of one drink a day and have two feel pleasantly sinful on special occasions.

Have you tried adding proteins and healthy fats to your diet with some weights? You are much more knowledgeable on the subject than I am. But maybe a trainer could help?

Yes. I’m doing that and it’s helping. It’s all the miles on the bicycle that burn up the muscle, but that’s a real addiction. I do it to stay normal.

Normal is a lot better than anxious and depressed or medicated.

What's mine is yours, brother. There's a built in irony that's best appreciated after a drink or two.
