Great to hear about the reduction in the tumor size!!!

Larry, I missed this thread while being distracted but I'm happy to hear things are progressing and that you are doing relatively well. Keep up the good progress and get that sucker out of there.

Back with my friends in Ward 5E and plugged into doxorubicin for tonight's cocktail. (And tomorrow and sat). Vincristine and cyclophosphamide to wrap up the weekend on Sunday. Then back home. We have the routine down now.

Nurses took it on themselves to upgrade me to a slightly better room as a "frequent flyer" perk.

OM. Prepare yourself. Lynne should be arriving any moment.

Thanks all.

Back at home as of Sunday lunch. This will a week of falling back and then recovering.

Plan (always subject to change) is one more round of Chemo 26-30 July and a visit with the surgeon 15 August to potentially finalize surgery plans aroun d the end of August. Once recovered from surgery, some additional Chemo and possibly radiation to chase down any errant cells. Duration of that TBD. Biggest question of the year will be what they find in surgery when we get there.

:D

Pretty much covers it. If one can be "lucky" in these things, my "extremely rare" tumor also happens to be one on the few Sarcomas (Ewings) that is generally responsive to Chemo so the odds improve that the reduction we are seeing will lead to a better surgical outcome and reduced chance of a recurrence after treatment is complete.

I'm extremely fortunate to have great family support and a a solid group of supportive friends, including this bunch.

Cripes, for some reason I never look at the "Off Topic" section here. I knew about the 30% reduction, but not all the rest!
I'm so glad you're tolerating the chemo well.

I saw that your daughter got that car she wanted. ;) I also saw that my daughter gave it a "like" on FB...lol. I hope she wasn't a bad influence!

Mine would look cute in one too, but unless I have gotten a very wrong impression over the years, I don't think either of us would buy our daughters a car like that. However, congrats on having a 26 yo with the ways and means! We just sprang for Sophie's first year of Irish private health insurance, as she's aging out of Tricare Young Adult on Saturday. Much less exciting.

We are proud of her. Works her "real job" with full benefits and a second as a bartender for a catering company (weddings, parties, funerals, Lions Club, political gatherings) on the side. Banks 100% of the bartender income and shares an apartment with 2 other young folks to keep the rent down. Putting away 401 savings plus more. Took her a couple of months to go from "i want it" to "I can afford it" to "I'm willing to spend some significant savings for it." She has taken to heart that financing a depreciating asset is not wise. She did take out a small loan on this, strictly to make the credit bureaus happy and build more credit history. She'll pay it off in a few months from money currently in her savings.

Really good exercise in 1. Not waiting until she had to have a new car to shop for one, 2. Researching cost and making the deal and 3. Learning all about buying, title, registration, etc.

And it looks good on her! Her rationale was "my next car will likely be an "adult" car or SUV with attachments for car seats, space for groceries, etc. my "first car" was my HS Mazda6 and it was fine but is getting old and needs to go (it got hit and was a "constructive" total but safe to drive while she shopped. Now for sale "as is"). She decided to buy a "fun car" for now.

Now. MY question is if she and her boyfriend get more serious, does she sell the Fiat or does he get rid of the Stage 2 tuned WRX-STI?

I don't know, the WRX has a place for baby seats!

(I'm smiling as I remember putting the oldest daughter into a baby seat in the back of my '71 GTC/4 Ferrari, she was the reason I bought the C/4 rather than the GTC ;)

The STI has the anchors and room for baby seats :D . You can even carry a 80lb floor sander and 5' ladder at the same time. A very practical car and STG 2 get better fuel economy than stock.

They aren't even engaged. Let's not give her babies yet. :o :o Her older sister is due to deliver #1grandchild in early December. I'm good with that. Point it she wanted her fun car now. Every cute young lady needs a red convertible at some time in her life.

I think every person (full stop) needs a cute red convertible at one point in their life.

(Mine is still in the garage after 47 years of loyal service, especially with helping me find the girls of my dreams ;) )

Just about. Blood test today. WBC, RBC, HCT and platlets low but not alarming. BP low so they detoured me to a room for a liter of fluid. Seeing the doc tomorrow. Suspect he'll want new blood work Friday or Monday before committing to the next Chemo session, hopefully starting next Wednesday. Don't want to push it back a week.

Lynne tell you I'm having my peoples over for drinks on the evening of the 28th? Perfect excuse to make sure they're out by 2100. If she's early there might be a margarita left.
