I don't know where your house is Derek, but if it is on Lake Union you could ride your bike north to the Burke-Gilman Trail and ride directly to Kenmore Air which the trail goes past.

I was thinking more about boating up on a quick runabout of some sort.

My airplane Mechanic is at RNT (Renton Airport) that is one of the few airports with both a land runway and a seaplane ramp. I keep the plane at the other end of the lake. So I get to ride the Burke Gillman often as I can fly a bike down in the plane and ride back to get my car or the other way around.

My new house is close to the trail.

Where in the world did you get the idea that you could use a motorboat as viable means of transportation?
