Quick update. Another chemo session that left me pretty puny for about a week. In NYC this week to see the radiation oncologist, get another CAT scan and baseline PET scan, do the "simulation" and get targets tatooed on my belly to allow for calculation of angles and dosage of the radiation treatments. Headed back the 17th to have 5 IGRT sessions 18-22 Sept. Doc says pretty minor side effects is all I should experience-some fatigue, nausea and maybe digestive upset for a short period. Hell, the Chemo already does that, so only the chance of "sunburn" is new.

I particularly like the radiation doc telling me that his goal is to obtain definitive results that leave the surgeon only dead tumor tissue to remove. I can sign up for that.

Revisit surgery about Thanksgiving. Probably more Chemo after the radiation treatments to stay on offense and again following surgery to chase down any straggler malignant cells. With any luck, finish all treatments by our 30th wedding anniversary in late March 2018 and then get back strength and energy for sailing season next year.

Sounds like you're hanging in there and I notice an uptick of snark in PA. Keep it up, keep strong.

This sounds like a great strategy!! Here's hoping he pulls it off. Glad to hear you holding up well.

It sounds like an endgame is in sight.

I'm sure the treatments are getting tiresome but there does appear to be a positive finish line. We'll get you there. You're going to beat it.

Well, I've learned I'm along for the ride, a voting member but not in charge. The end will be when the Docs say they are through abusing me. Even then, they will be periodic scans and other tests for a long time to catch any relapse.

At least your periodic scans won't include "the prep."

No but I'm due for one of those next spring. With my luck, I'll finish this treatment and they will find something on the 'scope.

Man, and I thought I was a pessimist!

I'm on the 3-year plan for the 'scope. Something about finding a bunch of Poe Lips.

Mine is coming up next month, on the ten year plan, hope I continue to be "clean".

I've had some po lips, but just a flesh wound so far.

I really hated being on an annual plan. I don't like sedation, so I've done my colonoscopy's and endoscopies awake. If you're going to f me, I want to know. :D

There's no way I could relax enough to allow a colonoscopy while awake. Sedation is like an alien abduction-

You wake up on the side of a road somewhere naked, missing, missing 2 hours out of your life, and knowing that something horrible has happened but you don't know exactly what.

Agree. The one that was a bit scary was the endoscopy. It's not small to go down your throat.

Allow me to get back to wishing Larry well:-) Though I did do one colonoscopy without anything but the video to watch and did pretty well, I'm a big fan of the happy pill they give these days.

MORE DRUGS! I did one colonoscopy without and it was a PIA - literally! ;)

Larry, you're doing a great job of keeping a stiff upper lip during all this. I've now watched a bunch of folks, sadly. You take the award for being the most rational, reasonable, and well-adjusted about this entire mess - an award no one wants to ever run for let alone win.

Our thoughts are with you.

And now for today's Larry Report-

Larry was spotted at his home yesterday, in pretty damn good shape. He was sporting his usual, dry sense of humor and accompanied by his lovely wife.
We dropped off a big tub of homemade, vegetable crab soup and stole his utility trailer for a week.

Ajax,

Good to see you and the Power Ranger On Saturday. Keep the trailer as long as you like.

We arrived in NYC without incident and are ready for the week. First radiation treatment early this evening with morning sessions the rest of the week. Now if The storm that shall not be named will just stay off the coast we'll only see a couple of inches of rain and 20-25 knots in the city tomorrow. I figure cabs and Uber will be impossible to get when it's raining so may have to walk 3 NYC blocks in blowing rain to a nearby shuttle bus. Should have brought foul weather gear.

Exercise is good. We did some shopping and then out to dinner last night. Probably going to pick up food tonight for tomorrow in case we are rained in. Either that or do the NY thing and have something delivered and tip well.
