It's a Girl!

Good afternoon Scantlings family! Sorry for the very delayed post, life has been turned upside down (in a good way!).

We were blessed with a little girl, Mara Beth McKenzie on the morning of May 29th. A very happy, healthy 6lb 12oz baby.
Since then we have been busy getting to know her. We went to race week the first week in July, but unfortunately the two of us didn't get out sailing. We let dad have all the fun. This time ;) . Summer is just getting under way up here anyway, so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities still to get the little darling out on the water.

Hope all is well with everyone here, once I get back to work in the end of August I'll get caught up with all of your adventures!

Sweet Miss Mara

Yay! …and cute! Probably more attractive than the "acute" pics, anyway. Much joy to all.

Ya done good, girl! We were presented with a new grandson around the same time - lots of fun. Being a grandparent is even better than having your own - crying too much? - give'em back, wet diaper? - give'em back, needs feeding? - give'em back.

Happy and smiling and cuddly? Keep'em. :D

She's a beauty!! What a SMILE!!

Tell her there's a berth for her in Madison's cabin aboard MAYAN anytime she wants it, and she can bring her parents too.

Stacey,

As an experienced parents who mostly survived raising 3 kids, Lynne and I offer this advice for washing the baby's clothing:

Thank you all for your kind words! It's been the best summer ever, even if it has been sans sailing :D

Sloop- congrats on the grandson, how exciting!
Beau- thank you for the offer, we would all be so excited to take you up on that sometime!
Larry- are you sure those are the right instructions? Sometimes it's way easier to just dump her in with the clothes, I bought the tear-free detergent and I put it on gentle setting? ;)

As far as the foredeck goes, she will be ready soon! She's got nimble little fingers, monkey toes and I've been showing her the ropes (literally) on the O. The rest of the crew humors me by letting me run lines and set up the foredeck before races, so Mara rides around in the baby bjorn helping me out!

Screaming O, meet (sometimes) Screaming baby!
