Merry Christmas Scantlingers!

Bruce Guthro is a Canadian singer / songwriter, from Cape Breton Island. Bruce has recorded as a solo artist, and back in 1998 also joined the Scottish folk rock band Runrig, whilst still pursuing his solo career. Bruce has received several ECMA's (East Coast Music Awards), and has hosted the Canadian TV show Songwriters Circle.

The visuals on this video are nothing to write home about but I enjoy the song in a glurgy Christmassy way. This is my favorite Christmas song of Bruce's.

Merry Christmas! to all our family and friends, near and far, all the best from Ken & Anne.

Post a favorite Christmas tune for us.

A happy and merry Christmas to all. This is a song written by Joni Mitchell, I think she felt the same way about Saskatoon I did. ;)

Back at home last night after a couple of hard weeks in Dallas. Good to be with my wife and kids today

Whatever your personal beliefs, enjoy your family in this day.

Merry Christmas all!

We will be enjoying roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes. Raw veggies for myself & siblings, cooked veggies for Mom. Plum pudding with hard sauce for dessert.

A nice day planned - a walk on the beach at my Moms (it's mild here), some competitive games of Scrabble, music, relaxing ...

Christmas bread and Champagne for breakfast. Cioppino with green lip mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and fish and a nice bread roll for lunch before too long. Roast Pork and Turkey breast for a late dinner (if lunch is much later, the Pork and Turkey may be a Boxing day dinner.....).

Waiting for a good friend who is alone this Christmas to arrive.

Good on you Captain! It is always great when people invite the lonely to enjoy the holidays with others!

Our tradition is to have Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, roast veggies and asparagus on Christmas eve. Then, on Christmas morning we enjoy French Toast, bacon, and champagne. Christmas day Suzanne makes her most delicious cheesecake to share with the charcuterie, desserts, and fruits at our extended family gathering in the evening.

We had baby back ribs slow cooked in oyster sauce and beef fajitas made with flank steak for lunch.

I'm doing linguini with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and lobster tail for dinner.

The girls did thanksgiving, so I'm doing all the cooking today. My mom is here from RI, and we're feeding a friend of my daughter's who has no family nearby.

Santa brought me books titled "How Not to Be a Dick" and "The Quotable A**hole". I wonder if he's trying to tell me something?

My wife wants to know where to buy those books.

Like most of us, I'm a pushover for nautical stuff. Christmas for me was a nicely polished Walker Taffrail Log in the original box dating to the early 1900's.

Bicycle parts, underwear, cheese and fishy pâté from Paris, a couple of Blue Note anthologies (Clifford Brown and Coltrane), a Mediterranean vegetarian cookbook, and chocolate. Lots of chocolate. Just had some of the scotch I gave my wife and about to open the first bottle of Moët. Cheers, all!

Merry Christmas everyone!

For me the highlight gift was a set of Chapman tools. Roast leg of lamb with pan roasted veggies, braised brussels sprouts, roasted broccoli and a Guinness Chocolate cake for my son's birthday (poor kid is a Christmas baby).

Nice! Maybe if I'm lucky one of those will show up under my tree.

Turkey with stuffing and gravy, and a home-made pumpkin pie made from a Ghost pumpkin I picked up from a little organic farm by the side of the road in Spences Bridge, of all places.

Under the tree--SCOTCH! Even better--around the tree--FAMILY!!!

A beautiful and haunting hymn sung only during the Christmas service at the church where I grew up.

I hope every Scantinger's heart is cheery, And says "It is Christmas Day"; Through the wind and waves may be dreary,They are happy far away.

Just made the wine run. Kékfrankós and Lagrein to go with sauerbraten on Xmas and several other things for casual sozzling. Daughter wants to eat at Cantler's (famous Annapolis working people's bar and fish joint) on Xmas eve and brother has decided we must bring good champagne to have with the oysters and Muscadet for the crabs.

The weather is just freakin ominous.

We have referred to Cantler's as "Red Neck Inn" for 28 years. It was Lynne's first Crab experience when she moved here from Australia.

Thunderstorm just passed here. Crazy for 23 December.

Sounds like y'all are gearing up for rains of frogs and a locust infestation.

Or maybe the weather is playing nice after a nasty couple of years.

Nope, I'll go with locusts.

I was studiously avoiding that epithet, as you could tell.

Looks to me like September weather, with front after front collapsing against a summer-like Atlantic high.
