The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!

Bought my oldest son (38 years old) a Star Wars tooth brush today. He is still a fan.

I was 8 years old when the first Star Wars came out (1977) and I must say that was the perfect age. I did not require a deep, plot. I did not need a 'love interest' angle. I could care less if the acting was mediocre.

I was blown away by the visuals. No one had ever seen anything like it.

Today, I am not a Star Wars fanatic but I can't help getting a little excited by a possible return to that amazing place the original films took us.

I don't know many people who don't like Star Wars. I remember being blown away by the special effects.

Easy to under appreciate these days what it took to make that movie back them.

George Lucas had to invent a computer to do it. We had a commercial version where I used to work.

I was 29 when I saw it (shit I'm old!) and I loved it. It was the first film in years to pit the good guys against the bad guys unambiguously.

Four hours ago, just for kicks, my wife checked to see if Star Wars is playing at our little local movie theater. Turned out she could by tickets on-line so she zapped up three of them and an hour later we were in a distant Galaxy far far away.................

So is smoking ganja in theaters legal yet?

No smoke, but you could eat brownies without hassle.

Our theater does sell beer that you can drink during the movie. Naturally, the Washington State Liquor Control board just had to make at least one stupid rule: They will not allow anyone to carry more than one beer away from the concession area. Had to send my wife back to get her beer.

I had to piss so bad I missed Princess Leia's opening scene.

So for those of us who haven't seen the new Star Wars yet, how was it? What was it about and how does it end?

I will not spoil it by saying it was THE BEST of all the Star Wars episodes. Period.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Episode IV and V. Episode IV is epic simply for ushering in the franchise. Watch it today and it's still fresh. Now, imagine it in 1977! It completely freaked everyone out. That year, this movie also came out:

There was some concern that JJ Abrams would take the special effects over the top. That did not happen. Yes, there is a lot of action. But it was well-measured and completely on pace with any previous Star Wars episode. That said, the dogfight and flight scenes were spectacular. Breathtaking, I'd say. The acting is the best of all of them and the story is solid. This is a New Beginning (pun - sort of) for what will be a deluge of Star Wars sequels. VIII is already in the works (not directed by JJ Abrams). Time will tell if the saga can withstand a multitude of sequels.

It's probably too late now, but I recommend going to see it in a packed theater. The cheers and clapping is half the fun.

We saw it this afternoon, and I liked it very much. Very fresh, lots of action, some very touching moments too. Following on Steve's experience, I recommend a de-hydration program beforehand, as I really had to go for the last 20 minutes or so, even though I did not have a beer.
