Seems like there are loads of history buffs here so... Our daughters first book chronicling the re-enactment of La Salle's exploration of North America.

Very cool Joli. Living as we do, it's virtually impossible to imagine what an incredibly dangerous adventure those early explorers took on. Even the re-enactment is a lot more than most could undertake.

If anyone wants to see a movie that gets much that period right, track down "Black Robe". Very well done and with a realism that movies rarely get- Heck, the whole thing is on Youtube, though it looks grainy a bit. The scenery is beautiful, shot in Quebec,-

Very good movie and full of great reasons not to mess with the locals if you're in a strange continent.
