Humpback in the Chesapeake. 35-40' humpback surprises some fishermen off Solomons.

With the shallow brackish water, I hope this whale heads back for the Atlantic soon.

That's amazing. Sick animal, maybe. You'd think the salt and filth gradients would scare off anything that wasn't severely disoriented.

We have had Gray and Humpbacks inside the kelp beds around Santa Cruz for about a month. They are in 15-20' of water because there's a pod of orca munching on this little ones. There are various theories: 1) the sound of the waves hides the sounds the whales make, 2) the orca don't like shallow water, 3) the big whales like to look at the swimmers and surfers.

Needless to say, there have been some extremely surprised surfers who are waiting for waves.

Bear pictures, too, if you click left or right. I see one bear was relocated from Shelton to Newtown. (Yes, THAT Newtown.) Maybe +bear doesn't make much difference in Newtown.
