Loved seeing Greg win the road race. Nice guy and first Gold for Belgium since 1952. First Belgium metal since Axel's Bronze in 2000. Yellow Jersey, TdF stage win and Olympic Goal, I'd say he is having a good year!

Kim was there more carnage than normal for a bike race. It sure seemed like a tough course.

Very dangerous descent, The cyclists who crashed (both men and women) are all very good bike handlers. Chris Boardman (Former Olympic cycling gold medalist) called it a terrible course. I have not ridden it so I have to rely on Boardman.

Ledecky's 400 was one of the most amazing athletic exhibitions I have ever seen and it probably won't be her last crushing tour de force of these games. It's pretty clear that her greatest strength is mental. What an amazing woman!

I have read that one of her training strategies is to start a set at a pace she knows she can't maintain and just throw herself at it again and again, day after day, until she can hold it. Anyone who has worked out against a clock knows what kind of guts and discipline that takes. I am simply in awe.

Why don't they make the synchronized divers swim in synchrony after they hit the water? Seems like a missed opportunity to collapse two boring "disciplines."

They could have a dozen divers at once turning into water polo teams. Give them a couple of hours with the heat turned way down and they can play ice hockey.

I love the Olympics. My girls are of the few who like the equestrian events, for which the announcers are ridiculously horrible.

I like anything that involves skill, grace, sweat from women. All the stuff with dudes doing it I can do without.

She just pulls revolutionizing performances from deep inside: pure heart and discipline. She has never lost a major race. Her competition tonight was great, so she was simply greater. With her kind of drive, what could any of us have been?

Well, maybe..... but Katie was born in 1997. Michael was only 3 years away from his first Olympics in 2000. He has more than twice as many gold medals and his nearest rival in any sport. He is certainly genetically formed to win swimming races. But we won't know about Katie for another three or four Olympic cycles. It's Micahel's endurance that amazes me. Any of us would be crippled by now with what he does as a "normal" workout.
