Careful Rich, there's one of them here... Although I don't expect he'd draw one of those on your spinnaker though.

Lol, why do you think I posted it?
I sometimes wonder if Larry was such a wiseguy when he was flying.

Small sample, but every one I've met was. ;)

So, what do you want when painting with contrails? The Mona Lisa?

No dick pics drawn by warplanes, eh?

Shades of Vonnegut.

Thought it was the ‘draw the commander in chief contest’.

I can't help but think about Trump looking out the window and thinking "ah fuck, that's one of our planes".

One of my HS class mates was a Naval Aviator and ended up teaching pilots how to land on a carrier. After the Navy, he took Holy Orders. I guess carrier landings put the fear of God into you.

I've worked with a guy who did a couple hundred carrier landings while we were "supporting" various folks in Bosnia. His comment when all hell was breaking loose at a company we were working on: "Na, this isn't serious. Nobody dies."

I’ll just say flying fighters on and off aircraft carriers gives life a certain perspective.

That’s a perspective to which I can also relate.

My brother in law Tom Emerson's father was not quite a Naval Aviator but was one of two USCG fighter pilots in WWII. Here is his story as recounted by his son Joe this past Veterans Day:

A Veterans Day story--My Pop was a Coast Guard WW2 veteran. During the war his job was "Beach Master" where he would take the first landing craft to the beach in an amphibious attack and then direct movement of all troops and equipment on his section of the beach. After surviving Iwo Jima and 9 other amphibious invasions where he earned the Silver Star medal he was summoned to Admiral Nimitz Flagship. There the Admiral informed my Dad he would no longer allow him to participate in any more invasions stating "It had been a miracle he had survived this long". To acknowledge his gallantry in battle Admiral Nimitz promised him any position in the military he wanted as long as it didn't involve ground combat. My Dad said he wanted to be a fighter pilot ! (he had never flown a plane) The Admiral objected stating "There are no fighter pilots in the Coast Guard !" My Dad reminded him of the promise he had just made! Admiral Nimitz relented and sent him to flight school and to fighter training in Pensacola Florida. He was allowed to bring another Coast Guard officer with him so he wouldn't get beat up by the Navy guys. This pic is His first carrier landing on the aircraft carrier " Saipan". This was the first time a Coast Guard aviator had landed a plane on a carrier. The Captain of the ship is shaking his hand. My Dad- Robert Emerson and his high school and CG academy classmate Bill Morrel are the only two Coast Guard aviators that have become fighter pilots. Pretty crazy life he had !

Coincidentally one of my uncles was a beachmaster on Iwo Jima too.
