His birthday was yesterday, but we are celebrating tonight. There will be Piping, Scottish Fiddles, Haggis, Single Malt, Tatties, Neeps, Good Cheer, and various other Joys! I will wear my Kilt of course!

Rabbie Burns, the Bard of Ayrshire, Ploughman Poet who wrote (among other great works) “Scots Wha Hae” said to be Robert the Bruce’s address to the troops at Bannockburn before His glorious victory over the English on the 24th of June 1314. (Susan’s Birthday is June 24.)

One of my favorite nights of the year! My flask is charged.

Thank God I Am Scots!

The best laid plans o mice and men
Gang aft agly
An leave us nought but grief an pain
For promised joy

Ye creepin, ugly, blasted wunner
Detested, shunned by Saint and sinner
How dare ye set yer feet upon her
So fine a lady
Go somewhere else, and seek yer dinner
On some poor body

Sorry, im sure its not accurate, but it's from memory, and my memory ain't what it was, best as I can recall.

To a mouse and to a louse?

Love Burns, but I also love Chaucer and Shaky. And Yeats and Keats and Shelley. And barbecue.

Live is amazing, and Burns is part of the beauty of life's rich pageant.

I am not familiar with Mr. Burns, but his birthday rings a bell.

I turned 49 yesterday.

My buddy left his bagpipes in my backseat and I was driving around with them. I parked and forgot to lock my car. When I got back, it was too late, somebody had already left another set of bagpipes.

Do you know best use for bagpipes? Kindling for an accordion fire.

Sorry, I actually love bagpipes, but I can't resist bagpipe jokes.

I have two sets, I love them, but I don’t play in public.

I took Susan to hear Alasdair Gillies (generally considered the greatest piper of the modern era) a couple years before his untimely death.

He started to play and Susan turned to me with a look of wonderment on her face and blurted out: “OH! THAT’s what they are suppose to sound like....”

Like I say, I don’t play in public......

(I love piping jokes......)

We refer to Bagpipes as "Agony Bags". Close second and third: Highland Saxophone, and Porridge Organ. :D
Ross Bligh, Beneteau 36.7 'Elision' (rhymes with 'collision', lol)

To misquote Billy Connolly:

You never hear anyone say “she is sleeping with the bagpipe player “

He was actually talking about the banjo player, but whatever, I prefer to listen to bagpipes than to banjos...

Wanna know the definition of perfect pitch?

Throwing an accordion into a dumpster, and having it land on a set of bagpipes.

(I love the sound of pipes. We've occasionally had a piper playing the fleet out to the racecourse at Cedar Point Yacht Club. Way better than "Ride of the Valkyries")

Happy birthday to all who deserve it. My youngest grandson turned 5 on the 25th. I'll have to add Robert Burns to his education. His older brother was born on Bastille day, go figure.

I, of course, was born on All Saints Day. Bless you all:-)
