Intervention

Postby kimbottles » Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:57 pm

We are going to need to stage an intervention to rescue one of our members from himself.

It looks like Beau is going back to work.

Sheesh, he has no self control what so ever.

This is so sad. Just a week or so ago he was working away on his yard and his boat, not a care in the world. Now he is back on the hard stuff. He says it's temporary but we all know that is just denial rearing it's ugly head. Soon he'll be staying in his SF apartment to be close to the work, then, he will have a Murphy bed installed in his office. We MUST do something, soon!

Nooooo !!

I’m just fine. It’s only temporary. I just got home, at 10:20 pm, so you may have a point......

It is sad, but not unexpected. Recidivism rate is very high, particularly for repeat offenders.

We need to support him, but he really can't help himself.

I think you're on to something. Hawaii, yeah, that's it! Hawaii

Then, mebbe, we can keep going to French Polynesia....

YOU LOT!!!

Thank you all for your concerns. I am working hard to become one of these:

As opposed to being one of these:

I've actually started the planning process for a trip from San Francisco to Tahiti and return with stops in the Marquesas and Tuamotus on the way there-n-back in 2020. The 2019 year will be a local cruising and debugging year, with trips around the SF and Monterey Bays. After thinking of all the places we want to sail, we figure we'll do the long haul first and see how folks like it. Tahiti is a nice destination with an easy return to LA, less easy getting back to Santa Cruz because one has to round Pt. Conception. We'd leave here in May and return in October, spending the winter in the S. hemisphere when there aren't hurricanes and skirting the hurricane season in the N. hemisphere during our passages.

Tahiti has a great international airport, now that the locals burned to the ground once in protest of French rule. :) That'll make it easy for friends/family/parts/crew to arrive and depart at the mid-point of the trip. From there, there are also small prop planes that can take folks to the Marquesas and even a few of the Tuamotu islands. Getting folks to-n-from is key to having a happy cruise as most folks don't want to spend 6 months sailing - although I have no idea why.

Now, back to my intervention, I've kicked off my discussions with the VCs by saying: "I'm not willing to run the place, only oversee it as Board Chair." Of course, I've said that before and then backslid into an operating role when there was a problem (actually that has happened three times :( ah well).

I do appreciate your comments, care, and good ribbing and look forward to deserving a lot more of it! LOL!!!

Beau used this as an excuse to back out of the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta. There goes my starting helmsman...

Yes, I really regret not getting back to Maine this year! It would have been great sailing with you all. The company is doing well, and so far I’ve dodged being an employee, but my daughter asked: “Let me get this right, you are raising the money for them, you wrote their business plan, and you still think the investors are going to let you wander off?”

The lady has a point.

Hopefully, you will all still accept my older self as crew in the future.

Looks like I am going to miss this Egg Noggin' Reach Around by a week. Wooden boats...huh.

What'll they think of next?

I keep having bad "separation" dreams about retiring...like I leave something important behind- or- forgot to do something important. Wonder what that signifies? Ever have those, Beau?

Of course, but Tucky, KDH and I were all looking forward to it being sooner, rather than later.

Eric, I’m not buying it. As a multi-failure guy I can tell you that they will find you!!

They just did.

I may come off as rather full of myself at times, but I am always amazed when anyone else thinks i might be good at something.

Much to think about.
