Tricks on posting videos here?

Can anyone tell me what the secrets are to posting a video here? Normally mine get rejected. I assume that there is both a size restriction, and that there are format restrictions. Can anyone tell me what they are?

I too would love to know how to do this. I have seen that some of you have used an "attachment" bit of code, but I can't seem to see a button that does that and I don't know the syntax of that command. Could someone provide it??

Pretty sure we came to the conclusion that the best thing to do is post it to YouTube and then link to it here. Of course, you'd have to start a YT account and all that stuff. Worth it?

I've been trying some things. The only thing that seems to work is just putting a plain link to the file. The bulletin board does not recognize it as a video and does not display it, but clicking on the link works. I think this means that opening the link in the browser works and the bb really has nothing to do it. Here are two such links. The first is from my Google Drive, the second is from YouTube.

I found a few references to this problem in the help areas for the phpBB. One thing I saw suggested that it's possible to upload a video using same "upload attachment" feature we use for photos, but there is a file size limit (probably set to 1M, too small for video) and also a list of legal file extensions. It may also require some extensions to the base phpBB software. Accepting video uploads is a whole 'nother range of commitment for the hosting site, and I quite understand not going there. I used to embed YouTube videos here on SCANTLINGS, all the time.

Then something changed and have been unable to embed ever since.

Data costs money.

Videos take / use a lot of data.

This board is probably set up on a somewhat 'economical' basis (all good, btw and thanks again). Linking to a video is prudent in this case.
