Visiting San Francisco for the America's Cup ...

The finals are scheduled to take place between September 7 - 21.

If one was going to come and catch some of the action, any suggestions on the 'best' way to do this?

Also, any suggestions re where to stay? San Francisco is one of those places where you can certainly spend cubic dollars if you want, but with commuter options widely available I'm guessing one could find reasonably priced accommodation in a suburb. Any helpful hints greatly appreciated!

I am thinking of being down there for the cup or the Red Bull Youth Regatta before that so any info would be helpful as well. I will most likely have accomodations as I have relatives in the area. We will probably drive down but I am guessing that public transporttation will be the way to get around on the bayfront. Perhaps a Scantlings gathering (Scantlings Table?) would be in order if others will be there.
