Caring thoughts to smackdaddy

Postby Lin » Mon Mar 18, 2013 11:18 pm

Bob posted in CA, and I wanted to follow up here.

Steve, I just read your blog and I wanted to pass on heartfelt condolences to you and your young family.
Words really fail me. May the love, light and goodness that your young wife embraced, live on forever in the hearts of you and your sons.

Oh no. So sorry.
Sometimes I sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Steve if your out there, the sailing family on this small web site are probably as tight a group as can be had for folks you have never met. Your loss has churned my stomach into a knot. There are no right words I could say that will make the transition easier to your life’s new journey. From our family Pam , Ed, Stan, the sincerest condolences on your family’s loss. Capt.Ed Wojtecki

Marriage and family are two of the most challenging and simultaneously rewarding pursuits for humankind. My heart goes out to you and your family, Steve.

Smackdaddy called me this morning. He's doing ok. Just ok. His inlaws are staying with him and the boys until the school year is out and they have been a big help. He says the boys are showing amazing resiliancy. That's good.
We cried and we laughed and joked, He has to learn to cook now. I didn't have any advice to give. You would think I would have some but I don't. The best I could offer is to hang in there and try to slowly get a handle on the anger that he is feeling so stongly now. I offerred cooking tips when he needs them. Life doesn't prepare you for things like this. You have to improvise and try to teach yourself the survival skills required to get through it intact. He knows he can call me day or night and he and the boys are always welcome at the shack.
Please take a look at my blog. I think you will find it interesting and entertaining:

If life prepared us for that we might not be able to love as though it were for ever. Let him know we're thinking of him next time you talk.

OK is a start and having the boys to love should help. Send him our support when you talk again. Pat
