It is now a $500 fine to impede the passage of a ship in the St Clair River. This section in the video is below the Blue water bridge with the current running 4 knots at times. Watching his stern tells me he was forced over to the Canadian side to avoid hitting the sailboat. This would be great evidence to charge that sailor for his actions.

Panope the maneuver he made was indeed impressive. The ship is in ballast and quicker to react. It would be a butt pucker moment if the ship was loaded. I have the T shirt on loaded condition and avoidance.
