Spring break for us. We left MN about 10:00 a.m. on 29 March. Drove to Jacksonville (1 night), Cocoa Beach (3 nights), Islamorada (1 night). Then on to Key West for the day. We left Key West around 9:00 pm. Drove north non-stop to Kentucky. Stayed overnight there then drove on to MN. Got home last night around 11:30.

I lived in Florida for 4 years back in the early 80s. It's always a little dicey going back. Mainly because we start conjuring up thoughts on how we could just stay there and not go back to MN.

Then I remember that life in Florida wasn't all that great. At least not for a 20 something with no real skills. I made $6.50/hr as an instrument man on a land survey crew when I lived there. Not to mention some of my personal relationships were 'questionable'.

So, here I am back in MN. This week's forecast is for rain/snow/ice/sleet/fire/brimstone. I am reminded of the old saying, "Never make important decisions in Minnesota in March/April".

I thought it was "Never make important decisions in Minnesota".

How's the weather treating you now Rick? I think they used the word 'wacky' to describe this springs weather...

We are supposed to get another round tonight as well, but not as bad as you guys down there. At least the snow is good for one thing this time of year:

Can I say something?

This fucking sucks. Especially since I don't have beer.

This time last week, I was in the surf in Cocoa Beach.

Think of how fast that week went! Maybe 4 more of those and you might be in the slip! 8-)

Notice I was a little heavy handed on the maybe's and might's...still. Stay positive - hopefully for enduring this April we won't have to suffer through a cold, rainy, shitty June!

Things are about to get real interesting here. Here's the wind graph, gale warning in effect, waves will be building 10-12 feet and the snow should be arriving within the hour. Come on up folks, the waters fine...

Woke up to a beautiful morning. We got a bunch of snow and it's all hanging in the trees, everything looks clean and white, every school in the area has closed, no one came into work today so I get a nice quiet day in the office...it really is a beautiful, peaceful morning.

That being said, it is April 19th today, and I thought this was a pretty humorous cartoon:
