Where our ass (still) sets

Spent last week upgrading my PC and installed it Saturday. I was getting pretty fed up with the cable mess and wanted to come up with a way to get it all out of sight.

The case is a Thermaltake Level 10. My upgrade was pretty much all new: Asrock Z77, Intel i7 with liquid cooling, dual nVidia Quadro 600s, 8GB of 2133 DDR3, 120GB SSD. The only thing taken from the old machine was the 1TB hard drive and my PCIE 1x Serial port card. Old machine will be my 16 y.o.'s birthday present (along with a car, but she doesn't know that yet).

I mounted it to the wall with some extremely sturdy shelf brackets. Pretty happy with the way it turned out. That Thermaltake case is pretty kickass. Highly recommend it.

I'm trying hard to spend more time with my ass planted here, and not in the office behind the desk. It works pretty well when the umbrella keeps the iPad screen in the shade. But, recording music out here doesn't work well at all; too much traffic noise, birds, boat-yard noise, and the occasional happy drunk headed home late at night.

Our deck out back....

Very zoomy. I tried liquid cooling my last computer but it rusted badly.

Isn't that a dusty Peavey bass I see in the corner?

Nudge nudge wink wink

hey, it ain't dusty! :)

That was one of the reasons for making the change to my rig. I needed a better place to hold the bass and the guitar. As well as various keyboards and other stuff.

I can't emphasize enough how much of a joy it is to have this setup.

Very cool, Rick, but I hope you get a little sunlight every few days. It's good for the brain. I think I might want to be Beau when I grow up.

This is where my wife parks her assets, so to speak. Pretty cool place to 'work'--if you can call it that.

Cool. My wife's off to the symphony with the neighbour divorcee, so I'm at home listening to Jennifer Warnes singing Leonard Cohen.

If it takes growing up to be like Beau, then I may have to consider it.

Wait, I can be like Beau and NOT grow up?!? Wha?? How? I don't have a Spirit yacht or a beach house, but right now I feel like a grown up forced to watch HGTV in a hotel that provided me with a fruit bowl. Somehow I'm all kinds of backwards...

I AM NOT GROWN UP!! Ask anyone who knows me - not ONE of them would ever accuse me of being a grown up! :D

My beloved Admiral watches HGTV all the time, why is that??? It is a puzzlement! Fruit bowls are nice, I like fruit! I have to admit I think HGTV is booooorrrrrrringggggggg zzzzzzzzzzz......zzzz.................................

No one would ever write a book as wonderful and fun as Peter Pan about a grownup. Now back to Never Never Land!

Haha, Beau I believe you, I just want to know the how! Maybe all I need to do is just jump on the bed as soon as I check in. I ate the strawberries and grapes but the rest was too fussy.

HGTV is still on. I can't explain it. In fact, it's fairly annoying at this point. However, reminds me of a joke because these folks think that granite and stainless appliances are too trendy:

Q: how did the hipster burn his tongue?

A: he drank his coffee before it was cool.

Alright then, I'll grab my coat. Never Never Land it is...home tomorrow and that's good enough for me. I think there is some new jib track installation plus a trip up the mast waiting. Kind of the grown up version of a playground. Rick, you can have your thread back... ;)

I'm with Beau. I have no concept of 'grow up'.

and it's not like I've never had a girl steal my threads before.

Wait, what??? :p
