Scantlings

A quick answer to the question of 'Minnesota's best contribution to popular music' might elicit 'Prince' and 'Bob Dylan' as typical responses, but to anyone who really knows the scene, responding 'Cloud Cult' would likely gather a knowing nod. The group was formed some 15 years ago by a couple from Minneapolis, and their thoughtful music started to gather underground attention. But sadly the sudden death of their infant son threw them into a tailspin, both musically and relationship-wise. Happily, they managed to get both back together, and now create wonderful music about life, love, loss, and the power the human spirit. Recorded during a trip to Seattle by KEXP, this acoustical show is simply perfect.
