Public Speaking About Boats

Today BobP flew down for a lunch talk at my club. He Did GREAT!!!!

Not only did Bob tell the crowded house a lot of interesting things... he had us rolling in the aisles!! The Scantlingers that I saw there were BobP, Cherie, Alx and me. (Sorry if I missed someone!)

Bob started with the Sliver (AKA: FL. AKA: Francis Lee). He took the crowd through a LOT of beautiful pics of SWIMBO and Kim's lovely boat and even admitted (under close questioning) that FL was "Exactly the sort of boat I love." and "The reason FRANCIS came together so well and so fast is that Kim and I just 'fit', we found we loved the same sort of boats and that's clearly the 'best boat'." and "It helped that I'd known the guy for over 15 years, he knew what he was in for and hired me anyway!"

Bob didn't just knock the cover off the ball with his talk - he ran it through the food processor.

Stories were told of BobP on Stag Cruise at our island.... They will not be repeated here!

Summary: Bob's a great! public speaker!!

Pat,

I think we SF Bay Scantlingers should have a "gathering" or a "movement" or a "party" or a "cruise" or something. It would be great to round up folks at Angel Island or someplace similar for some bacchanal.

It was nice to put a real person with the electronic one for everybody!

Beau

Thanks Beau, Alex and Cherie for showing up yesterday. I had a lot of old friends there and I felt unusually at ease in that room. It felt like a warm group. I had fun doing it and that probably showed.

Rub it in you guys! I spent a large part of yesterday in my dentist's chair having my pal Greg mess around in my mouth. I really wanted to be in San Francisco, not Bellevue.

Kim:
My talk was not quite as painful as dental work. You were missed but I had plenty of friends there. The mood at that club us very different than the mood a SYC. At SFYC nobody seems to try to act important.

Oh, some try, but at StFYC there are some of us who really insist on blue jeans and a sailing shirt. We try to stay a sailor's club, and often fail.

Kim, I HATE DENTISTS, well actually I have what the do not them.

Hey Joe, there are times in my life when I have what the do not them too.
Dentists can bring that out in anybody.

it kind of sounds like a line out of an old bues song.

My favorite Steve Martin quote:
"Some people have a way with words. Other people not have way."

Or maybe it's what the backup singers -Edit: or a do-wop (do-not-wop?) group- sing:
"What the do not them,
What the do not them,
What the do not them, not them, not them"

Bored at work? You bet!

Yeah? I'd say so.
Joe P. writing do wop lyrics.

Save that line Joe. Use it on some big money foreign client when he says something you don't understand.

" Sure, that stabilizer system will work fine because you have what the do not them too."
Then punch away on your H-P and nod knowingly.

Yes, you've got "something" there. But it will be a few months before I can egg you on. Pat

My father used to speak what he called the anguish languish, where every word was real but wrong-

Goldilocks and the Three Bears became guilty looks under tree bars. Our national anthem starts "Jose canoe seat"

Siri understands this and is just having fun. Sounds like a great talk- come east sometime Bob.

I spoke to Bob after he got home that night, I could here the smile in his voice as he told me about it. Sounds like it was a great lunch.
