All the best Tim. I'm sure things will turn out well. Thankfully you were not far out on the water when it happened.

Bob, on talking to Tim tonight he said he really enjoyed talking to you, and Jill (in the background) this evening. He had to end your call, as all the laughter was hurting his incisions. :)
He is tired and sore, but he is a very smart guy and will do what it takes to recover well.

Hang in there, Tim. Today and the next few days are tough ones. Lots of pain or discomfort in the leg graft retrieval site, general aches, fatigue from broken sleeps and mobility challenges due to sternal precautions. Have faith that it will get easier.

Get better Tim, and don't worry about the Biryani, we split yours so it wouldn't go to waste. I hope you don't mind, we put the beers on your tab. ;)

I just got off the phone with Tim. He was playing raquetball.

He is taking so many drugs that I hope one of them is working. Tbe only one I rcognized is dilauded (sp) and I told him to stash a few of those way for me. I still have a few Gratefull Dead lp's.
Darkside of the Moon would be good.

He sounds chipper. If "chipper" means like a porcupine crossing the road.
He seems "upbeat". But that's just Tim.

We talked at length about grand children and what we can mean to them. He never had a Gradpa and I never had a Grandpa. Not ones we could talk to.
We talked about what kind of grandpa's we could be. We could be important in the lives of our grand kids.

I don't know what to say. I don't know what surgery like that is like.
I tell him I love him and I'm waiting for him get out.

Tim, good morning. Now keep the pills away from Bob, the grand kid huggs will do more for both of you. Have the doc prescribe those in a high quantity dose. Wish you well.

You're right about that. The incision in the leg is more painful than the open chest. I walked 250 yds today in three instalments . A bit of a struggle initially, but the bits and pieces are working :)

Tim - good to hear the click of keys. Now get back into the hallway and make another circuit. They don't let you out of that place until you wear out a set of wheels on the cart. Good show that you are up and about!

Dropped in on Tim today--he looked great and was up and about. Looks like he is getting ready for the 'release' part of the Cardiac catch and release program--most excellent news. I had forgotten how frenetic cardiac wards can be--staff constantly in the hall, bells going off, phones ringing incessantly, monitors flashing, doctors and nurses conferring, cleaning staff rattling around, dieticians, physiotherapists ... Shady Acres Retirement Manor it is not!

No wonder he wants to get home--real food and some peace and quiet!

Keep up the good work Tim!

Glad to hear that the 5200 is curing Tim. Did they bevel the ends of the arteries properly before laminating in the new ones?

Lol
They did one arterial graft and 3 venal. I asked the doc if they remembered to turn them the right way round. We had a good laugh.
Good to see you Ross. Thanks for stopping by. It's been a zoo today between various specialists and 45 mins of physio + 150 yds of a quick walk.

Tim - there's nothing like irreverent sailing friends that try to make you laugh through the pain, right? A side benefit to your abuse of the golf course and nurses is that I finally checked into this forum hospital room myself. It also occurs to me that Lin launched this posting on 9/14, not long after you sent me birthday wishes. Coincidence?!

You'll be happy to know that we completely trashed your favorite a-sail on CDE within 25 miles of the start of the Vineyard Race over Labor Day weekend. Need a bigger sail! Save your hospital gowns.

Tim is going home today ? How about more warning we need to clean up his boat and put it back in the slip. Congrats Tim I am not sure I could handle that kind of stress that well. Moving ships is fine but going under and being carved up not so much.

I was just on the phone with him as he was getting ready to depart the hospital. I reported the final AC result to him. His daughter and new grandchild showed up and took him away, so he is in route home now. We hung up less than 5 minutes ago.

Quick update -I saw Tim on Sunday. I picked him up and we met another friend whom we race with, for a bit of brunch. (the friend whom we met for lunch has had his own battles with a non-cancerous tumor is his neck between his carotid artery and his larynx. He has had surgery, but unfortunately the growth is coming back. Eric, I'm sure you have heard of a Schwannoma. I was not familiar with them, until this friend was diagnosed with one)

Tim looks a bit knackered, bruised and sore, but is slowly getting better. : ) He is not allowed to drive for at least 6 weeks but is getting help and support from his family and friends to get to where he needs to.
