Rick,

Sorry I missed you. I left SD at dawn to try to get to LA. Didn't make it. MAYAN is now on a mooring in Newport Beach and will have her fuel tanks scrubbed and fuel polished etc... I will be flying home to do some stuff with the Admiral and Wayne will take MAYAN to his yard in LA once she has perfect fuel tanks, no changing filters every 2 hours for him. NO!

Be sure to see the maritime museum, the STAR OF INDIA is cool, be don't miss MEDUSSA, an Edwardian steam Yatch.

And isn't HMS Surprise of the Patrick O'Brien books at the San Diego Maritime Museum too?
She would be worth a visit.

Surprise was off limits. Looked like they were having bilge issues. We did get to see Star of India and Californian. The subs were amazing, actually. Great to see the juxtaposition between Soviet and U.S. subs of the era.

The rest of the trip was EPIC. I will write more soon.
