Sounds better than superheated steam, although less effective.

ahhh...it's good to never grow up.

and for anyone interested, this shit is hanging on. No fever to speak of, but I feel like I've been fracked.

Well, of course the shit is going to hang on if you have sand on your butt. You need a surface with a much lower coefficient of friction.

No no no. Fracking is good for you, it releases all those nasty excess vapors that are making you ill. Next best thing to a theraputic bleeding.

Did they give you tamiflu or anything to try and lessen/shorten the run? It sucks being sick. It'll be better if we do this together-

Hey Rick, are you done with that section of the Wall Street Journal? Want the rest of my strawberries? I haven't sneezed or coughed on them, honest!

No danger here, in case it's not obvious.

A speedy recovery to all, preferably without fracking.

Rob,

You still in the Big House? Have you tried jumping jacks? Hope things are looking up, down or whatever way will get you going again.

As to SatPhones, I don't think they make a Bowelproof Model (the BM-1?) so it'd be best to use said phone to call for the local Medica Rotorooter team. ;)

Get well buddy, all the best,

Beau

I pooped!!!! (beams with pride, "they can't take that away from me" plays in background)

They just let me out. Got home a couple of minutes ago. Joy!!

Thank gawd I didn't need to use the sat phone! Of course I have a docking station, which is largely hands free, but still.

Rob - Hope you get well soon.

Have had a flu shot for about the last ten years. Can't remember ever getting any flu symptoms from the shot. Have had the flu, but it was a lot less severe than what other folks report. Flu shots seem to work for me. Pat

damn...scary stuff

There are reports that she did indeed have a vaccination. Of course, no vaccination is a 100% gurantee and considering the number of cases, statistically this is extremely rare. Still, I wonder.

Flu vaccines are 60% effective. Plus, you could still get some other kind of flu that the vaccination does not protect against.

So I had my flu shot yesterday. Being an old fucker, 66, I got the "high dose". My pal Steve being a youngster at 64 got the "low dose".

Last night I slept through the entire night. Very, very unusual for me. I'm a three pee at night kind of guy.
I woke up this morning when my wife was getting up.
I couldn't figure out why she was up and all the lights in the bedroom were on.
I thought it was still the middle of the night.
I had two cups of strong coffee and I still felt drowsy.
I thought about going back to bed but I was worried about "the big sleep".

I talked to my buddy down the beach, he's a retired vet. He said it's a reaction to the flu shot. He asked if I had achey joints. I said yes. He said immune system reaction to the shot.
What do you think Orestes? You sound like you are a doctor. It's good to have one on board.
Please take a look at my blog. I think you will find it interesting and entertaining:

This evening, NPR said 20 kids had died from flu in the US this season.

Well, after a week + 3 days, whatever I had is finally over. The first couple of days were the worst. After that just a nagging cough which I now seem to be completely over.

There were some scary accounts of what the flu did to some of the kids who died...kids in their teens (I have two). Low grade fever (101) followed by what seemed like recovery then relapse with headache followed by sudden spike in temperature then kidney failure. On Saturday, I had a nasty headache that was only temporarily relieved with Ibuprofen. No temperature increase though.

I don't suppose there's any way to know for sure if what I had was the flu. If it was, does that mean my body has now built up an immunity?

Well, I'm healthy and figure it's time for my first ever flu shot. The Flu Guck is arriving in Cali and I don't want to be shreading bugs all over the grandchild, I'd be very unpopular. I DO HATE needles!!

HTFU, Gramps. Take a little prophylactic ibuprofen a half hour before and massage the site afterward to disperse the bolus, if you're worried about soreness.

It's a piece of cake Beau. Over before you know it. I generally don't feel much of anything. The pressure of the nurse holding my arm is worse.

I'd just go get the shot, Beau.

That whole eating prophylactics and bolus dispersion thing that Orestes is on about sounds distinctly unpleasant to me.

Wow eating prophylactics and massages, I must be in the wrong group. At the doctor now waiting, if I don't post tonight you'll know it was fatal.
