Happy birthday to the USA - this is one of the most significant dates in human history AFAIAC. Few, if any other single days have had as much impact on the course of human society as the 4th.
Celebrate in style.

Due to Arthur passing offshore and a forecast of relatively high winds, out fireworks were delayed until this evening.
We availed ourselves of the "on the water option" but over the years have come to realize that reasonably careful anchorage selection to be out of the path of the idiots and turning on the spreader lights right after the grand finale and then waiting 20 minutes to raise the anchor goes a long way toward avoiding trouble. Seems the idiots want to race home at 40 knots right away. Waiting 20 minutes is no big deal. I figure since we can't outrun them, we may as well wait some time and then follow them.
