Watched this story about Laura Dekker last night. I admit to being uninformed and only knowing about this from the press when they made such a big deal about her attempt to do this at the age of 12. I admit that at the time, I was taking a high-and-mighty dad approach that this was entirely irresponsible.
But, after watching the movie and hearing more about her story, I have no doubt she could have pulled it off at 13. Such an amazing person. She seems to be that one exception out of 7 billion people.
Being the dad to 3 girls, it's a bit nerve racking. Especially when I open the door to my 17 y.o.'s room, clothes, dishes, and junk scattered everywhere while she spends her free time staring at a little electronic cube. Granted, she doesn't really have a lot of free time. What with sleeping 14 hrs a day and spending the rest at school and doing homework, I should cut her some slack.
He said without really meaning it.
Anyway, the movie is really great. I highly recommend it. I can't imagine anyone would be able to spend a lot of time around Laura. She has seriously H'enedTFU.
