If it was red I saw it in one of our pecan trees this morning. If it was gray it's trying to chew it's way into my Mom's potting shed. If it's black you're on your own.
Sometimes I sit and think. Other times I just sit.

They talk about my drinking, but never my thirst.

One job that I always thought would be cool would be developing Prosthetic limbs for people.
It would have to be ground up builds, machining the bits, laying up the carbon (well, they gotta be light right?) and developing the software on the powered types.
I just think it would be fun, rewarding work.
Imagine going to the mall and seeing someone walking around on a leg you built for them.

Of course, I don't know the first thing about Prosthetic limbs, but hey.

Absolutely correct. I would go so far as to say that the LEAST secure employment you can find nowadays is with large corporations. They don't give a shit about their staff - the short term bottom line is the ONLY concern. The senior people who's compensation is mostly stock generally have the career life expectancy of a mayfly so they focus on pumping up the short term share price before they get moved out.

In those environs, staff or "HR Units" have no more significance than a filing cabinet, despite all the feel good chatter about "engagement" and "teamwork" and the other buzzwords de jour.

It used to be very different and better.

As usual, SJB is correct. This isn't politics, it is simply the way thing are.
