That's not going to work. What are some ways I can 'recruit' someone with the means and interest to participate?

That depends...are you a beautiful 28-year-old Japanese nymphomaniac?

What do you expect from this partner Rick? What role would the partner serve?

That's a good question Kim. When I think of a partner I'm thinking about the qualities that many have mentioned here.

These are pretty much in order:

  1. Mentally stable
  2. Financially sound
  3. Responsible
  4. Ambitious
  5. Creative
  6. Passionate
  7. Fearless

I have a dollar figure in my head and while my share would be largest, I'm looking for financial partners who are willing to invest in this venture. They would, in tern, profit based on their contribution. I especially appreciate the sentiment here that I need to maintain control as the 'leader'. I have no problem doing that and I'm good at it. But I need help. I have the vision. But when I get down in the weeds, that's where I lose it. I need one or two people who are able to keep that part of the business in check. It's not that I'm incompetent when it comes to bookkeeping and finances, but I need a partner who can handle that side of it. I'm a good motivator for those who are open to being motivated.

On top of that, I'm looking for partners who are not risk averse. I know what it's like to lose a lot of middle-class money and it's scary. At least now I know what to look for and I'm sensitive about those risks. But not so sensitive to keep me from pursuing this vision.

We are moving ahead with this. We have enough to bootstrap this thing for a year. If it fails, we won't fail as miserably as we did the last time.

While it may be a downer to focus on failure, I'm dealing with someone who is very sensitive to this. Her last experience was not a very positive one, so we have to deal with the glass half empty for now.

In the meantime, I will still be looking for partners. I feel we need to act now.
