I wondered why Kim was so diligent in calling him Olof, but figured it was a joke or somesuch...

The joke might be a bit of a reach, but I get a kick out of it every time I type it. (I am easily amused.)

(I have also met a guy in Sweden who spells it correctly like I do, so maybe he has influenced me to some extent. He is Olof Hildebrand the creator of the Swede 55 along with the Swede 52 and his new creation the Swede 68.)

I am a bit vague about the origin Kim, but the name came from a combination of local geography and local humour.

Inland from Kettering are the Hartz mountains, a beautiful area in a national park.

Some time ago some friends took over management of a small boatyard, and named it the Olaf Hartz boatyard, which loosely translated to the local dialect sounds like the old farts boatyard. They were of course claiming Olaf was a descendent of the guy who named the mountain.

When I chose a name for SA, I thought I wasn't getting any younger and picked a name I could use in the long term before someone else got it. I assumed Kim has translated it more closely to the North American spelling, so it sounded more like old fart over there.

Yup, you got it, like I say I am very easily amused and often I am the only one who understands my humor.

But Paul will always be Olof to me.......old fart that he is.

(Just to be clear and avoid any misunderstanding; Susan and I are VERY fond of the Harts, really good people!)

Sweet Hart is an Anderson, but they came here from Scotland.

Interestingly, an ancestor on her other side came here as the Hanoverian Consul to Van Diemens Land around 1850.

I got it immediately on SA, but still don't understand the "o."

Like I say, sometimes I am the only one who appreciates my own humor.

So, Olaf, you are not really named Olaf? Are you Paul? Is your last name Hart? If I'm being nosy, please say so.

The world is so much better with the opposite sex for so many reasons.

The "she" bit is an excellent observation. It is so easy to couple a pronoun with disrespect.

I very much agree on the second point too.
