My wife, sweet vessel of tradition, reminds me that we are celebrating the culmination of advent tonight and will begin the 12 ecstatic days of Christmas tomorrow. I must confess, I like it.

Tomorrow is Christmas, after all. I'm wrapping presents tonight but I view Catholicism through a pedophilic lens these days.

Happy Kwanzaa!

Well, they are certainly the creeps du jour, but its not like any other religious outfit was without sin. The Bible is full of abusers, muderers, and ganevim.

I suppose, as usual, you're right. Merry Christmas!

Don't worry, Christmas is a pagan ritual and the birth of Christ moved to the 25th of December, conveniently near the Winter solstice for all those recent converts. Who says God can't plan?

Whatever you prefer to celebrate: All the best to you and yours for the holiday season and the coming new year!

All the best in this crisp Christmas morning.

Our first with Jess out of the nest so we are down to one kid to feed. He’ll arrive about 10. Making up for it with a local and his daughter, son-in-law and grandson from Tennessee. Her mother died from a lingering illness when she was a teenager so we did what we could to help raise her and her brother so they count as “family.”

Last night was out BIG DO. This morning we just have our Marine on site. It was great fun to have the entire extended family rocking the house until the wee hours. The M&Ms and their tiny cousin “T” were in attendance along with two their cousins from Sea Ranch (Just north of us In Mendicino). Five kids under 5 certainly get the party moving. Thankfully two of them aren’t walking yet... YET! We’ve got two more Mom’s in the Mood, so the number of little ones headed our way is going to grow! WOOOPPPPIIIIEEEEE! There is nothing like family around this time of year.

Happy Christmas to you all, or as my Dutch grandfather would say: “Vrolijk Kerstfest”

Merry Christmas, Scantlinger.

A quiet one for us, with just our two girls (one home from college).

The big family gathering is this weekend with 18 here for a few days.

A Merry Christmas to you all! . . . and a Happy Winter solstice and Full Moon to you all too. The days will only get longer now, and eventually warmer too. Get your skiing in while you can, sailing season is just around the corner (sort of).

Being a top flight curmudgeon, I tend to suffer through it all, retire gracefully from the proceedings, thank everyone for being so kind, and retire upstairs into the 3rd floor loft to watch the start of the Sydney Hobart Race.

It's become sort of a tradition.

I hope everyone's holiday was terrific!

Merry Christmas all. Had a nice quiet day at home with the family. Lots of fun watching the kids be excited about all of it. They made out like bandits of course and now my living room is impassable due to the train tracks, and other toys that are spread out.

Did anything exciting happen in the S2H race start? I didn’t watch it.

No, it was pretty calm by StH standards. The big Indian got stuck in some light breeze while Oats and Black Jack and the other big boats in The BIg Five got outside the heads faster...but the last time I checked, Commanche was bearing down on Oats et al. and may have the top Line Honors spot by later today (EST)....and then there might be a parking lot in (off all places) Bass Strait.

I want to do this race so bad I can taste it. My bestest, oldest friend moved to QLD last summer, but that didn't work out and now he's back in NorCal. Bummer as it would have given me the perfect excuse to fly over in December 2019.

They put the first turning buoy too close to North Head, so it was in a wind shadow in the prevailing lighting north easterlies.

Once they were out the Heads it was game on..
