I watched an interesting video yesterday by Tom Scott, 'Single Point of Failure: The (Fictional) Day Google Forgot To Check Passwords', about a simulation of a hypothetical rogue operator inside Google and the results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4GB_NDU43Q

Then this morning Facebook goes down, seemingly worldwide. The problems are also affecting Facebook Messenger, as well as Facebook-owned services like Instagram and WhatsApp.

Hmmm.
