Some good news

Postby Olaf Hart » Thu Jun 20, 2019 6:50 am

Just wanted to share this, our eldest son, his wife and two boys aged 3 and 5 have come from Denver to stay for a couple of weeks in Tassie, it’s winter here but still quite reasonable weather.

Some pics

We were looking after mum and the boys at first, dad had to go to Singapore at the last minute for work but he arrived this morning.

You may recall our youngest son suffers from a severe mental illness, and has been in and out of hospital for years, in our care, and finally in supported accomodation for the last year.

His recent treatment has been atypical, but successful as far as his mental illness goes, he has been delusion free for about a year now, the first time since 2002.

So we picked him up on the way down from the airport and he spent the day with us all, it went really well, the kids enjoyed playing with him, he related normally with everyone, and his cognition has clearly improved.

We have watched his transformation for a while now, but this evening I realised it is the first time in around 15 years we have been together as an actual normal family, it’s a pretty emotional time for Sweet Hart and Me.

Thanks for sharing. We seldom know of the battles each fights below our common shared love of sailing. It must give great hope for a new dawn after a long dark night of your souls. I am happy with and for you.

So happy to hear he is better, even with his problems we enjoyed his company back in 2015 when we were there.

Wonderful, so happy for you.

OH, this is great to see. Next time at the beach, hand them a shovel and a bucket and stand back!! My little ones could spend 3-4 hours digging, building, tearing down, building, etc.... Such fun to see.
